On April 29, 2018 one of the most important events in cultural life of Tobolsk happened: Museum of the Family of Emperor Nicholas II opened its doors for visitors. The museum complex takes place in the historical memorial building of Governor’s residence where the imperial family lived during their exile in Tobolsk from August 1917 to April 1918. The building was renovated in order to create the museum complex. For many years the unique items that belonged to imperial family members had been gathered.
The Museum was created with the help of Tuymen region administration, the curator of the new museum complex is the charity Fund “Elizabeth-Sergey educational society” (Moscow). This complex is unique; it gives a new perspective on well-known facts, opens new details of personal and public life of Nikolas II, his family and people who were close to them. The exposition shows how the Emperor and his wife cared about development or Russian Empire, reflects their loyalty, grace, Christian qualities.
The Museum of the Family of Emperor Nicholas II is a site in excursion program “Imperial route” that is realized under the auspices of Ministry of Cultural Affairs with the charity Fund “Elizabeth-Sergey educational society”, Cultural Department of Tuymen region. The complex can provide excursions for 3 groups of 15 people at once.
